My name is Kevin Moody and I currently work as a freelance consultant. I have a bachelor's degree in pharmacy, a master's degree in business administration and a doctoral degree in education. I was the International Coordinator / CEO of GNP+ from 2006 to 2013. Before then I worked at WHO, Médecins Sans Frontières, Health Action International, The International Pharmaceutical Federation, the University of British Columbia and - way back - as a pharmacist both in the community and in hospitals.
In these roles, I've worked to improve people's health and quality of life for the past 20 years through public policy, advocacy and evidence generation programmes. My work has led to changes in policies, laws and guidelines at the national, regional and international levels. Examples include:
enabling person-centred solutions
improving access to medicines
fighting counterfeit medicines
supporting rational drug use
fighting punitive laws that reduce access to healthcare
improving social factors that affect people's access to healthcare
Essential to my success in policy issues has been the focus on collaborative evidence-based advocacy, including the generation of new data by directly involving people living with HIV in the process. I work by bringing together end-users, policy makers, decision makers and officials to find win-win solutions that ultimate benefit every stakeholder. As a result, I've also gained expertise in organisational strategy and management in both large and small business contexts.
